Motorcycle riders: Is there a leather jacket style what zips but has a cover flap that crosses over the front of your torso, then fastens (with buttons or toggles) truly vertically (not at an angle to the navel like I keep finding) from shoulder to hip?

I’m thinking maybe this was a similar type of style of jacket used for The Rocketeer, especially how it hung open when not fully fastened . . .?

If so, I would really like to know if that style has a formal name. I need it to describe a character i’m working on.

Bonus points if there is an older fashion of the same design.
